A decade of collaboration and care

January 2026 marks an incredible milestone for the Major Trauma Service at Moore Barlow – 10 years of providing essential support and guidance to those in a major trauma centre setting affected by serious injury. What began as a vision to offer holistic, rehabilitation-focused care has evolved into a leading, multidisciplinary service that supports patients and families through some of the most challenging times of their lives.

As we look back on this decade of achievement, we are reminded that the success of the Major Trauma Service is not just about what we’ve done, but about how we’ve done it – together, with compassion, professionalism, and a shared commitment to improving the lives of our clients.

A vision takes shape

The story of the Major Trauma Service started in 2015, when the firm launched a unique service that sought to go beyond the legal claim. Trevor Sterling, Senior Partner, who was pivotal in the development of the service, recognised a clear opportunity to provide more than just legal representation for patients dealing with major trauma. He saw the potential to create a comprehensive support system that would bring together legal expertise, medical care, therapeutic services, and long-term planning aligned with the NHS.

“We wanted to build a service that focused on the whole person, not just the legal aspect of their injury,” Trevor recalls. “It was about early intervention, rehabilitation, and long-term care – all delivered in a way that was truly client-centred.”

This ambition quickly took root, and from the very beginning, the service was designed to work closely with NHS major trauma centres, case managers and rehabilitation professionals to create a seamless pathway for patients recovering from life-altering injuries. The aim was simple: to ensure that clients received not only the compensation they deserved but also the comprehensive support they needed to rebuild their lives.

A team effort

Over the past 10 years, the Major Trauma Service has supported countless individuals and families, working alongside medical professionals and rehabilitation providers to ensure that every client receives the right treatment at the right time. The team has been instrumental in securing early funding, coordinating treatment pathways, and developing long-term care strategies to prioritise recovery and quality of life.

Trevor is particularly proud of the culture that has grown around the service. “At Moore Barlow, we’ve always believed that success should be measured by the impact we have on people’s lives. That philosophy is embedded in our Major Trauma Service, and it’s the reason we’ve been able to make such a difference for so many people.”

Looking to the future

As we celebrate this incredible 10-year milestone, the Major Trauma Service is not resting on its laurels. There’s still much work to be done to continue improving outcomes for those affected by serious injury.

The commitment to further developing the service is unwavering, and there are exciting plans in place for the years ahead. The team is dedicated to building on the solid foundation that has been laid and ensuring that Moore Barlow remains a trusted partner for major trauma patients.

A decade of impact

As we reflect on the last 10 years, we’re reminded of the countless lives that have been impacted by the Major Trauma Service including those involved in catastrophic events such as the Croydon Tram Disaster .From the very beginning, the aim was to create a service that offered more than just legal advice, a service that put the client at the heart of everything it does.

We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved over the past decade, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to the success of the Major Trauma Service.

Here’s to the next 10 years of collaboration, care, and making a real difference in the lives of those who need us most.

How we help you and your family

When someone experiences a major trauma injury they will often go through a number of stages on their journey to recovery. Their goals can vary, but they will include a return to independence, work, or an improved quality of life. In the UK we’re lucky enough to have a national health service that provides high-levels of support during these early stages of dealing with an injury.

Unfortunately, due to the limited funding of statutory services, this support often drops off when someone has been discharged. That’s where Moore Barlow can help. Watch to find out how.
