Making sure you are successful when applying for a Sponsor Licence

As with many aspects of UK immigration law, applying for a sponsor licence can be very involved and is subject to stringent checks. You may need to show that you are:
- A UK company with a genuine trading presence in the UK
- Have the right permissions (e.g. Local Planning Authority consent) for the business you operate at your premises
- Are registered with HMRC
- Have a company bank account and employer’s liability insurance.
- Are able to prove you can comply with your duties and responsibilities as a sponsor (such as monitoring your sponsored employees).
UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) will check your application form and supporting documents. To satisfy themselves that you meet the criteria, UKVI officials can visit any of your UK offices or branches, at any time, and they may arrive unannounced. They will want to be sure you are ‘honest, dependable and reliable’, so a visit is particularly likely if you have only recently started trading in the UK. Consequently, it’s wise to be thoroughly prepared for a visit and ensure everything is in order.
Once you have decided to apply for a sponsor licence, we will:
