Moore Barlow supports Fastned on its joint venture with Places for London

Moore Barlow has successfully advised award-winning European ultra-rapid charging company Fastned on its joint venture with Places for London (PfL), owned by Transport for London (TfL).

The deal means that Fastned will deliver multiple electric vehicle charge hubs across Transport for London sites, moving forward with TFL’s green agenda and supporting London’s goal to reach NetZero carbon by 2030.

Fastned is renowned for its high-speed, high-quality EV charging infrastructure. It operates from a rapidly expanding number of sites, including one of London’s busiest ultra-rapid charging hubs in Greenwich, which offers electric drivers up to 300 miles of range in as little as 20 minutes.

The new sites will also support Places for London’s placemaking plans by including retail and other ancillary amenities, where possible. The joint venture is planning to deliver the first site in 2026.

Moore Barlow’s property and corporate teams jointly provided the legal advice to Fastned.

Fastned entered the UK market in 2019, and we’ve been proud to support them ever since; we were the first law firm to ever work with them in the UK, and we’re extremely pleased to see the progress they have made in just five years. This joint venture with PfL is a huge opportunity for Fastned, but it’s no surprise that they were picked as the preferred partner; having attended some of the PfL negotiations with the Fastned team, it’s clear why Fastned fares so well in delivering client experience, availability, speed and charging quality.

This is an excellent fit. The joint venture company’s mission statement is “to have a materially positive impact on society and the environment by building and maintaining industry-leading ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging infrastructure, directly contributing to London’s transition to a net-zero carbon city”, something which resonates with us. We are delighted to have been able to work alongside Fastned on such an important project which Londoners will benefit from.

Roger Bailey, corporate partner at Moore Barlow

This is an exciting opportunity for us. London leads the way with electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and we’re proud to be chosen as their partner as London progresses with its sustainability goals. A big thank you to Moore Barlow, who have been our trusted adviser since our launch in the UK. We look forward to seeing what the future holds.
