At Moore Barlow, we want every colleague to feel they belong, can thrive, and can see a future here.
Our culture is built on respect, collaboration and care. Diversity and inclusion are not standalone projects, they are part of how we work, recruit, and grow.
Our approach to diversity and inclusion
Our leadership team has made a clear commitment: we will be a workplace where different perspectives are valued and barriers are reduced. Our values – human first, stronger together, make it happen, lead the way – guide us in creating a fair and inclusive culture.
Key elements of our D&I approach include:
- A firmwide D&I Committee with senior sponsorship.
- Regular learning sessions and awareness events.
- Networks and working groups shaped by colleagues themselves.
- Inclusive policies that back up our words, from enhanced family leave to flexible dress codes and hybrid working.
We are transparent about progress. For example, our 2025 Gender Pay Gap Report showed the mean hourly gap reduced to 16.9% for employees (down 4.5% from the previous year) and 13.4% for partners (down 1.3%). We publish this data annually and act on the findings.
We also align with external standards, such as the Mindful Business Charter, and we continue to explore partnerships with sector bodies championing equality across gender, ethnicity, disability, socio-economic background and sexuality.

Disability inclusion and support
We want colleagues with disabilities or long-term health conditions to feel supported from day one. We comply fully with the Equality Act 2010 and are committed to going further through voluntary initiatives.
What this looks like in practice:
- Workplace adjustments tailored to individual needs, from specialist equipment to flexible working arrangements.
- Display Screen Equipment assessments for both office and home-based colleagues, and Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans where required.
- A network of trained Mental Health First Aiders across the firm, available for confidential conversations and early support.
- Guidance and training for managers and teams on disability etiquette, creating a culture of understanding.
- Recruitment processes designed to be accessible, with adjustments available throughout.
This is supported by our Health & Safety and Mental Health policies, which set out clear procedures and the resources available.
Socio-economic mobility
Breaking down barriers to the legal profession is part of our purpose. That’s why we fully support the Be The Ladder Foundation, a social mobility initiative designed to make careers in law more accessible.
The Be The Ladder Foundation makes a difference by partnering with schools, colleges and universities to inspire and support students from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
In addition to this Moore Barlow is committed to being an inclusive law firm open to all. This isn’t just words, we deliver this in practice by:
- Providing mentoring, insight days and internships to first-generation university students and those without existing networks.
- Using RARE contextual recruitment tools in our trainee programme to ensure applications are assessed in context, levelling the playing field.
- Supporting colleagues on alternative qualification routes, such as the SQE and CILEx pathways.

Why this matters
For us, diversity and inclusion aren’t tick-box exercises or one-off campaigns. They are central to who we are and how we want to grow as a firm.
A diverse workforce brings a mix of perspectives, experiences and skills that makes our advice stronger and our culture richer. Clients benefit from teams who can approach challenges from different angles. Colleagues benefit from an environment where they feel supported to be themselves and develop to their full potential.
It also matters because of the role we play in society. Law firms hold positions of influence and trust. We believe that comes with a responsibility to create opportunity, reduce barriers and show that the legal profession is open to everyone, regardless of background, identity or circumstance.
Ultimately, our aim is simple: to build a place where people feel they belong, can achieve their ambitions, and know their contribution is valued.
