About Debbie
I am passionate about improving access to law for everyone regardless of background. My role as Emerging Talent Manager at Moore Barlow is all about exactly that.
My primary focus is working with our current and future Trainee Solicitor populations, leading the firms graduate recruitment campaign and working with colleges and universities to develop awareness and inspire future generations of solicitors. Before they join, I’m on hand to support our future Trainee Solicitors as they complete the SQE studies. Once they join the firm I am their primary point of contact as they navigate their two year Training Contract.
I also oversee our Thrive programme which sees our Trainees come together with all the individuals at Moore Barlow who are on an alternative pathway to qualification and are being sponsored by the firm. The aim is to provide all, regardless of their chosen pathway, with the necessary support and tools they need to become the best possible lawyer.
I qualified as a solicitor in 2001, specialising in Commercial Property. I spent the first 6 years of my career working in a Magic City and then US law firm before moving to large national firms. After 15 years of practicing, I moved into recruitment with a focus on Trainee Solicitor recruitment. Drawing on my own experience helps me to identify and then nurture talent through the Moore Barlow qualification pathways.
What motivates me?
I love seeing our Trainee Solicitors and Paralegals progress along their journey to qualification. For some I may only meet them when they join but for others it’s a long journey which might start at University Law Fairs, our recruitment insight events or assessment days. Regardless of the individuals chosen pathway, being part of that journey to qualification is incredibly rewarding.
Outside of work
Outside of work, I enjoy wildlife and photography. I’m the proud owner of a mad black lab called Monty and a bulging bookcase! I love a good film and TV series and am a big sports fan – tennis, athletics, F1, pretty much anything other than cricket! My main passion is rugby and during the rugby season you’ll find me at The Stoop every home game cheering on Harlequins Rugby Club 🏉
