Annual charities forum – public trust and a positive workplace culture

Moore Barlow is hosting an Annual Charities Forum which will be held on Tuesday 23 April 2024 at The Tithe Barn – Loseley Park.

Our guest speaker is Thomas Yih who, as Head of Charities Engagement at the Charity Commission, leads a team which organises outreach activities and events to increase charity trustees’ knowledge, skills and confidence.

Tom will be discussing the Commission’s ambition to increase public trust and confidence in charities, its role in doing that and how it balances support with regulatory intervention.

We will consider how to create a positive workplace culture, where motivated and engaged employees are focused on achieving the charity’s goals and making a difference. Too often charities find themselves mired in internal workplace disputes. Bullying and harassment can occur in well-known and smaller charities, as well as allegations of charities having “toxic” cultures. Unless great care is taken, such situations can spiral and distract from a charity’s core mission and focus. Legal experts Paul Ridout and Adam McRae-Taylor will provide valuable guidance on setting a positive culture, how to avoid pitfalls and how to deal with employee grievances when they arise.

Do feel free to pass these details to other trustees or staff in your organisation or others you know in the sector; they will be most welcome and will simply need to register their details below.
