About Matthew

I joined Moore Barlow LLP (formerly Barlow Robbins LLP) in 2015 as a Trainee Solicitor, where I gained experience in our Litigation, Corporate, Employment and Commercial Property departments.

I am now a Senior Associate in our Corporate team, working with businesses and their owners on all matters of company law from incorporation through to exit and everything in between. My experience at Moore Barlow has particularly focused on corporate transactional work, where I have worked on a number of deals with a value of tens of £millions, and often involving overseas parties. I have also led on smaller transactions.

Aside from transactions, I have worked on a variety of matters ranging from the issue of loan notes and option schemes for owner managed businesses to international corporate reorganisations for private equity backed groups. On the latter, that work has recently involved capital reductions, share buybacks, allotments of shares, intra-group waivers and releases and the winding up of subsidiary companies.

I aim to take a collaborative approach in my dealings with all parties to a transaction with the aim of reaching our common end goal, be that completion of a company purchase/sale or entry into a bespoke contract, whilst at the same time ensuring my client is suitably protected and certain of what will happen and when (and what would happen if it did not). That’s part of the reason I was shortlisted for ‘Emerging Dealmaker of the Year’ at the 2020 Insider Dealmaker awards, covering lawyers, bankers, accountants and corporate financiers in the South East.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family and taking part in various sports. In the past, that has been more than my fair share of rowing and cricket, but more recently running and triathlons.
