About Joey

I am a trainee solicitor currently placed in the Employment team where I will support other solicitors for the next six months.

I am dedicated to providing the best service of which I am capable, keeping clients updated with their matters, and assisting where I can. I understand that good lawyers are those who are not only knowledgeable, but also empathetic – two things I hope to keep at the forefront of my practice whilst remaining passionate about furthering my expertise. I am curious by nature and always eager to learn. I greatly look forward to broadening my practical legal knowledge over the next two years of my training contract.

Having spent many years in the retail, hospitality and healthcare industries in roles such as: assistant bar manager, sales consultant, healthcare assistant and hospice volunteer, I discovered a passion for helping others was one of my main drivers. Despite this initially leading me into a career in medicine with a place at medical school, speaking with a friend studying law made me shift focus. I went on to complete legal internships with Clifford Chance, Kingsley Napley, and Latham & Watkins before finishing my undergraduate degree.

After graduating from Cardiff University with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences, I decided to retrain and continue my education as a postgraduate with the University of Law. I was thrilled to enter ULaw as a double scholar, and equally thrilled to leave with Distinctions in both the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course.

Outside of work I am still passionate about (and fascinated by) science – particularly human anatomy and physiology, conservation biology and ecology, and the neuroscience of brain disorders. I also enjoy hiking in the Surrey Hills, painting, playing the flute, long runs, and getting stuck into a good book (though not all at the same time!). Whilst previously on a Sunday afternoon I’d be behind the bar of a country pub pulling pints, nowadays you can find me sat in one of the booths with muddy walking boots, a backpack, and a beer.
