Moore Barlow is the proud sponsor of the event which this year raised over £50,000 for charity. Contributing to a total which stands at over £1 million since the event began.
The annual regatta is considered the IT industry’s biggest sailing event which creates a fantastic opportunity for networking and team building while fundraising for nominated charities.
This year The Moore Barlow Silicon Cup Regatta donated the money raised to three standout charities: The Genie’s Wish; the Andrew Simpson Foundation; and the Greig City Academy sailing programme. All of which work to enhance people’s lives through the experiences that they offer.
The regatta saw 23 matched yachts race over two days on The Solent, with over 230 people participating onboard. We welcomed new entrants and returning companies on the chartered yachts, with a professional skipper and first mate leading each team.

The feeling at this year’s regatta was electric, and as I said to competitors on the second day, I loved it! For me, the event is threefold. It creates the personal opportunity for a breath-taking experience on the water, for some people a first; the business opportunity to create new connections and the community opportunity to support such incredible charities. The annual event, where no sailing experience is necessary, is based out of Port Solent near Portsmouth and crosses over to Cowes, Isle of Wight each September. It started in 2000 and since then more than 7,000 competitors have taken part in 450 matched yachts, raising over £1 million for worthy causes.
