About the role

What are we looking for?

We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate to be a part of our Chambers and Legal 500 rated family team at our Southampton office. We are a diverse team across 4 offices covering all aspects of family law from farming cases, child abduction to international financial cases. We have a strong mediation offering and many of the team are trained as collaborative lawyers. We are a team of 14 lawyers and seek someone who is fast working and committed to client service, who has experience of leading, developing and building a team.

Key tasks will include:

  • Fulfil and build personal case load 
  • Assist with marketing and business development for the department and firm 
  • Report to the Partner in charge of the team
  • Assist Team fee earners to fulfil their case loads
  • Assist with the coaching and mentoring of junior fee earners to improve their knowledge and capability

• Qualified Solicitor • Pro-activity • An ability to understand the client’s requirements and what motivates them as well as their objectives • Enthusiasm • An ability to move quickly from one matter to another and to have a grasp of all ongoing matters/issues for that client • An ability to anticipate the client’s needs and requirements • An ability to react quickly to the client’s requirements • Good technical and organisational skills • Self-sufficient in file management, letter and document preparation. • Creativity and an ability to find solutions to problems in order to facilitate progress on/completion of transactions • A good personal manner and an ability to relate to and communicate with clients and the team members at all levels • An ability to work well with other professionals retained by the clients and as part of the team with them and the client where necessary
