About Charlie

I am an Associate in the Moore Barlow’s Business Dispute Resolution team. I specialise in advising both corporate and private clients in connection with business and commercial disputes.

I pride myself on putting my clients’ specific aims and interests first and working closely with them to achieve their goals.

I have experience dealing with disputes in a broad range of areas across different industry sectors and at all stages of the litigation process, and have dealt with cases in the High Court, County Courts, and Magistrates’ Courts.

I joined Moore Barlow as a trainee in September 2019, eventually qualifying as a Solicitor in 2021. Prior to this I obtained a first-class Law degree at the University of Exeter and a distinction in my Legal Practice Course (with an MSc in Law, Business and Management) at The University of Law.

I am a keen runner outside of work and ran the London Marathon for charity in 2021. I’m not sure if running a marathon over three years ago entitles me to continue referring to myself as a “marathon runner”, but it doesn’t stop me.

I live on the South Coast with my wife, Michelle, and am currently enjoying seeing my familiar surroundings with new eyes through my newborn daughter, Olive.

Charlie’s case highlights

  • Successfully defending claims brought against my clients, by the sellers of plots of lands, for breach of overage covenants that, if found to be enforceable, would have resulted in a total liability in excess of £5,000,000. A proactive and incisive approach resulted in the Claimant discontinuing its claims in their entirety.
  • Representing a business client from pre-action correspondence all the way through to a final hearing in a case where the client’s landlord had illegally disconnected its electricity supply. This case required a robust commercial approach as our client was accruing losses in the region of £2,500 per week while the electricity supply remained disconnected. The claim was ultimately settled, following trial, in a result that saw our client recover £150,000 in damages, injunctive relief preventing future interference with the electricity supply, and recovery of its costs.
  • Acting for a liquidator client in a claim against a bank for conversion/wrongful interference with goods arising from the bank wrongly processing a cheque for £240,000 in favour of a rogue trader, despite it being addressed to our client. The claim was eventually settled at a damages figure higher than the underlying sum being claimed.
  • Assisted a consumer client in recovering two classic vehicles valued at over £95,000 under a failed restoration agreement, navigating challenges including cross-border logistics and the seller’s liquidation.
