The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme online portal is now live and can be accessed through the Government Gateway. There is a step by step guide for employers to assist in making a claim through the portal which can be accessed here.
Over the weekend, the government’s online guidance was also updated to suggest that employees will be eligible to take holiday whilst on furlough leave and indeed if they do then their employer should pay them at the rate of their normal wages or salary (and not the furlough rate). A note in the guidance makes it clear that the government will continue to monitor the situation around holiday pay during furlough.
And finally, on Friday, it was announced that the scheme will be available until 30 June 2020 (instead of 31 May). We understand that the government will continue to monitor the scheme rules and therefore this date may change.
