I work within the Court of Protection team, helping those who are Deputies to manage the financial affairs of clients who do not have capacity to make their own decisions. This involves building relationships with clients, their families, carers and any other professionals involved in order to ensure all of our clients’ needs and requirements are met, and that any assets they hold are managed appropriately and effectively. My work includes paying the bills, administering investments and paying carers. Everything that I do is designed to make sure that our clients’ care needs are met effectively and that they receive the benefits and monies that they are eligible for. I also assist with big undertakings such as a house move, a building project or holiday plans. We report and account to the Office of the Public Guardian to ensure that our clients are properly safeguarded and we only act within the confines of the powers granted to the Deputy by the Court of Protection.
I act for disabled children and adults, as well as elderly people, and their families.
I have BSc in Psychology and a Graduate Diploma in Law. I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and am currently studying towards my CILEX Level 6 examinations.
Outside of work I enjoy sailing in the Hebrides whenever I get a chance.
