Moore Blatch client celebrates 100th birthday

Phyllis Smith celebrated with friends and family as she marked reaching the grand old age of 100.

Born in Staines, Middlesex, in the middle of the First World War, Phyllis celebrated her special day at her home in Charvil, Berkshire, where she lives with her sister, who is herself turning 95 in a couple of weeks’ time.

Phyllis was joined by family and friends for a special party, and enjoyed a wonderful day of eating cake and opening her presents. Phyllis was particularly excited to receive a card from the Queen congratulating her on her landmark birthday, which was read out to everyone in attendance.

She was also pleased to welcome a surprise visitor in the form of Julie Taberer, her lawyer, who travelled to Charvil specifically to give Phyllis a bouquet of flowers and a card. Phyllis first met Julie, who works at Moore Blatch, earlier this year after Phyllis was knocked over by a drunk driver. Julie worked closely with Phyllis to support her in her recovery and the pair developed a strong friendship.

Phyllis was able to make a speedy recovery, aided by her active lifestyle , despite her advanced age she exercises regularly, having practised yoga for the past 40 years and recently taken up Tai Chi classes.

Phyllis never lost the vim and vigour of her youth, and she is already looking forward to celebrating her next big landmark birthday!

Phyllis Smith said:

“The whole day was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion. I was so pleased to be able to celebrate with so many special people, including Julie’s unexpected but very much appreciated appearance. I wish I could turn 100 more often!”

Julie Taberer, Senior Solicitor at Moore Blatch, said:

“I am very happy for Phyllis , turning 100 is such a fantastic landmark suitable for such a remarkable individual! I greatly enjoyed working with Phyllis and was pleased to be able to celebrate her special day with her.”
