Event: Legal update for charities

On 24 February 2022, the Charities Bill finally received Royal Assent and became law as the Charities Act 2022.

Gordon Reid, Moore Barlow partner and head of the charities team will be unpacking the key features of the Charities Act 2022 and the timeframe for its implementation, as well as the lessons to be learnt from the latest report into Kids Company.

As part of George Shepherd’s summary of the law and guidance around the key trustee duties, he will consider other recent Charity Commission inquiry reports, including one which involved financial mismanagement, undocumented loans from a trustee’s husband, unauthorised trustee benefit and a collective failure to provide oversight and control of the charity. George is a solicitor in the independent schools & charities team.

Olivia Stanton, also a solicitor in the independent schools and charities team will provide key updates on charity safeguarding.

Adam McRae-Taylor, a Moore Barlow senior associate who specialises in employment and education law will be part of the Q&A panel.
