About the role

What are we looking for?

This is a great opportunity for a knowledgeable Solicitor with Commercial Property experience to join our dynamic and highly recommended by Legal 500 & Chambers team who deal with all aspects of Commercial Property work.

The focus of this role is the management of a case load of client matters across a broad spectrum of commercial property matters, including often fast-paced and intensive transactional work, as well as non-transactional and advisory work ensuring that individual financial targets and objectives are met.

You will be drafting documentation for property sales and purchases (including contracts, transfers of part, deeds of easement and covenants, undertaking due diligence on properties, deducing title (whether the land is registered or unregistered) and drafting reports on title.

You will also be assisting with the management of key client relationships within the Commercial Property team so will have an opportunity to get involved in marketing and business development of the team and firm, so there is scope for your own personal career growth within the role.

Key tasks will include:

Financial Management & Compliance

  • To meet or exceed fee income targets and to make a profitable contribution to the department
  • To fully and accurately record chargeable and non-chargeable time, and effectively manage billing and debtors
  • To comply with and conduct the business of the Firm in accordance with the standards and procedures laid down in all statutory SRA rules. 

Client Management and Development

  • To manage own caseload with appropriate supervision 
  • To work effectively to progress matters in a timely fashion and in accordance with the requirements of the client and the pace of each transaction or matter
  • To deliver excellent client delivery providing a service based on the needs and requirements of the client, including meeting with them (where possible) on site if required 
  • To promote the firm and its areas of legal specialisation to new and existing clients. 

People Management and Relationships

  • To support other members of the rural property team, including in relation to all transactional, non-transactional (e.g. Estate management) and advisory work
  • To assist in the supervision and development of more junior staff where appropriate and to take on delegated departmental tasks from partners and other senior staff. To take an active functional role within the department or as a minimum to be assisting others to run projects
  • To maintain regular communication with the Head of Department and other members of the rural property team, including in person (where possible) or by telephone or video call
  • To deliver on the firm’s values


  • Deliver a high standard of technical work 
  • To contribute to the DMS strategy within the department and to participate fully in the leadership coaching programme
  • To develop, grow and maintain a strong up to date knowledge of property law 

Business Development

  • To be a good ambassador and actively promote the firm developing contact with others at this level in other professional firms
  • To develop an internal network of referrers and potential referrers at the firm
  • To actively support the business development activities of the commercial property team and the wider firm
  • To actively take steps to develop a network of professional contacts, potential referrers and referrers in the commercial property sphere, including agents and accountants
