What are we looking for?

This is a great opportunity for a hardworking and ambitious individual to join our dynamic and passionate team who deal with all aspects Personal Injury major trauma work on a 12 month fixed-term contract. You’ll be working with and learning from some brilliant and highly recognised Partners and Solicitors in this specialist area of law who work on life-changing cases where your empathy and your desire to make a difference ensure you are impacting the lives of your claimants.

The focus of this role is to provide support and assistance to other members of the team as necessary whilst assisting on a range of Personal Injury major trauma cases by helping the Lawyer to liaise with the clients and other parties involved. This is a very unique team as a lot of their time is spent in and out of hospitals, as well as working alongside key charities so a background in charity would be very much welcomed.

Your caseload will be mixture of Personal Injury work, with a strong lens on major trauma cases. Previous knowledge on this would be beneficial, however for the right candidate who is willing to learn we’d seek to support you if you were able to demonstrate this commitment.

Key tasks will include:

Technical ability and knowledge management

  • To assist on a range of Personal Injury cases by helping the Lawyer to liaise with the clients and other parties involved in the case, preparing documents and letters.
  • To assist in the collating of medical evidence to include requesting and sorting medical records. To assist with researching medico legal experts, drafting instructions to experts and arranging appointments.
  • To assist in collating evidence where possible, to include but not exclusively preparing witness statements and simple schedules of loss.
  • To deal with the initial calls of prospective clients and to extract information from them about their potential claim.
  • To have flexibility and a ‘can do’ attitude and a willingness to get involved in all aspects of supporting the team.
  • To undertake any specific training to improve or enhance skill base as requested.
  • To be proficient in IT and confident is using the various IT applications in accordance with the training provided.
  • Photocopying and documentation collation. 

Client Management    

  • To provide a high quality, professional service to clients and staff in person or on the phone by responding in a prompt, diplomatic and appropriate manner to their needs and/or requests.
  • To assist the Lawyer with keeping clients up to date and ensuring the files are efficiently progressed.
  • To help manage client needs with an awareness of the commerciality of the claim.
  • To proactively assist as requested with Department marketing and networking events.    

People relationships

  • To communicate at all times in a clear, polite and calm manner to clients, work colleagues and others and respect their views and the contribution they make.
  • To support the effectiveness of the team by being positive and co-operative with all team members particularly the support staff.
  • To share in the responsibility of orderly file management for both paper and electronic files.    

What we look for:

We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and commitment to do the best job possible for the client. Strong academics are desirable but of more importance is a “can do” attitude and a willingness to learn.
