About the role

This is a fantastic role reporting to the Cashier Supervisor working in a high performing professional finance team. This is an opportunity to join the Legal Cashier Team where you will be involved in a fast-paced environment providing the cashier function for Moore Barlow LLP. The role is responsible for ensuring that all monies are accurately and completely recorded and dealt with on a timely basis

Your primary objective is to provide the necessary level of service to help the firm and partners deliver the best possible service to our clients and suppliers

The role will be based in Southampton.

What we look for

Previous experience working within a Finance department is essential, with previous experience working as a Legal Cashier being advantageous. The role will deal with all manner of Legal Cashier duties, to include payments & receipts, billing, daily bank reconciliations, client matter payments etc.

Good knowledge of Excel and Word with accurate keyboard skills are required and an understanding of the Solicitor Accounts Rules and a working knowledge of basic VAT rules would also be beneficial. Experience of using Elite 3E would also be helpful. You may have previous experience in dealing with clients, suppliers and non-Finance colleagues. You will be a team player and will assist with reviewing and developing training guides for our financial processes.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to;

• Working as part of the Legal Cashier Team to carry out the daily cashier function of Moore Barlow to include;
o Processing receipts, payments and transfer of client monies
o Processing client matter office payments and transfers
o Ensuring client ledgers are up to date and accurate
o Reviewing and processing invoices on client matters
o Daily bank reconciliations
• Contribute to accurate and timely month end closure. This role includes serving as a hands-on team member responsible for performing and reviewing transactions.
• Working with the Team to ensure the Solicitor Accounts Rules are being adhered to.
• Support the delivery of relevant training to new and existing staff as needed.
• Assist with the review and development of relevant training guides and documentation for the team
