Legal Cashier Supervisor

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Legal Cashier Supervisor reporting to the Finance Operations Manager, working in a high performing professional finance team. This is an opportunity to join a busy team where you will be involved in a fast-paced environment and be responsible for the supervision of the Legal Cashier team.
You will have an opportunity to assist with leading and developing the team alongside the Financial Operations Manager and really make an impact on creating an efficient environment with the use of technology. The role will be based in either Woking or Southampton but supervising a team covering the firm’s six offices from the City to the South Coast.

As Legal Cashier Supervisor you will be responsible for the daily supervision of a medium sized Legal Cashier team over 2 offices. Their primary objective is to provide the necessary level of service to help the firm and partners deliver the best possible service to our clients and suppliers.

Key tasks of the role may include:

Supervision

  • Daily supervision of the Legal Cashier team.
  • Balancing workloads and resources between team members and offices as required to ensure the smooth running of all transaction processing.
  • Encourage an environment of timely and accurate processing of all relevant transactions.

Operational Service Delivery & Process Improvements

  • Work with the team to process all client matter transactions through the systems in a timely manner, ensuring correct authorisation and accurate input.
  • Over-see and review all types of cashiering transactions
  • Supervise the Legal Cashier team to achieve an accurate and timely month end closure.

Controls, Compliance & Best Practice

  • Working with the FOM to ensure compliance with all relevant financial controls, processes and internal policies.
  • Working with the FOM to ensure the Solicitor Accounts Rules are being adhered to.
  • Assist with the annual Solicitors Regulation Authority audit where required.
  • Assist in preparing for and supporting the annual external LLP audit.

We are looking for people who can demonstrate:

Previous supervision or management experience within a finance department is essential, with a proven track record of experience in supervising, leading and coaching a cashiering team within a law firm.
In addition previous experience as a Legal Cashier is a must, with experience in all manner of Legal Cashier duties, to include payments & receipts, billing, bank reconciliations, client matter reviews etc.
You must have good Excel skills, a strong understanding of the Solicitor Accounts Rules and basic VAT rules is a necessity. You will have experience in dealing with clients, suppliers and non-Finance colleagues.
You will be a team player and will have experience of considering and assisting with improving financial processes.
